Application Case | Acrylic Sheet CNC Processing Automation Loading and Unloading

In the field of modern manufacturing, automation and intelligence have become the key to improving production efficiency and reducing costs.  FUWEI Intelligent has proposed a composite robot solution based on AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) to address the manual operation issues in the current CNC machining process for the loading and unloading of acrylic sheets.  The traditional manual process of picking, placing, and manually unloading and reloading after processing is not only inefficient, but also has human errors and safety hazards.


Product features and process requirements

The acrylic sheet involved in this project has a size range of 200-450mm in length, 100-350mm in width, and 1-5mm in thickness, with a single piece weight of approximately 500 grams.  These acrylic sheets are covered with a thin film on the surface, but it does not affect suction and is not easily adhered to each other.  The production cycle requires a processing time of about 8 minutes for the equipment, and there are currently 60 CNC machines that implement a two shift work system.  In addition, it is required that the robot can directly communicate with CNC equipment and achieve a placement accuracy of ± 1mm.

To meet the above needs, FUWEI Intelligent has launched an AMR composite robot solution.  This solution achieves automation and intelligence of CNC loading and unloading of acrylic sheets by integrating advanced navigation, recognition, grabbing, and communication technologies.

Real time adjustment of production status: AMR composite robots can adjust production status in real-time according to the production center's plan, ensuring smooth and efficient production processes.

Automatic transfer and loading: The robot can automatically confirm the completion of CNC machining and transfer the finished products to the designated area.  At the same time, it can also determine the preparation status of materials in the loading area and automatically transfer the products to be processed to idle or processed CNC equipment.

High precision operation: The AMR composite robot adopts advanced visual recognition system and precision grasping mechanism, achieving a grasping and placement accuracy of ± 1mm, ensuring product quality and production safety.  

Intelligent obstacle avoidance and communication: Robots have intelligent obstacle avoidance functions and can automatically give way when encountering vehicles;  At the same time, it also has communication capabilities with CNC equipment and can automatically control the opening and closing of the warehouse door during loading and unloading.
